googleMaps does have a config package
So I am not too sure what you mean,
but in
config/_serverSpecificVarsAfterInit.cfm
you would have
<cfset Application.stplugins.googlemaps.apikey =
APPLICATION.config.configGoogleMap.apiKey />
or just change
Application.stplugins.googlemaps.apikey
to
APPLICATION.config.configGoogleMap.apiKey
