I would agree with this - save the latitude and longitude values in the database. Then you can add many points to the map.
I have just run a simple test to create 100 points on a map with no problem. I then went mad and tried 1000 points but it only created 723. All were simple points with very little text in the pop-up. Not using the plugin - custom code. Be aware of Google's T&C's on saving and re-using lat/long values returned from using the api. You may need to seek permission first if you want to use Google for geocoding. You can use other services for geocoding - currently using http://www.postcodeanywhere.co.uk The Royal Mail postcode database will soon be made free for all to use - hopefully this will also include geocoding based on postcodes as well.
