A few simple examples would be testimonials (testimonial text and author), services (service name and short description) and simple case studies (title and one paragraph of description). Basically a content type which would be perhaps just be listed on a single page and wouldn't necessarily have a natural order (although it could be argued that testimonials and case studies could be displayed in order of latest first, and services alphabetically). Such content would need to be ordered manually based on the importance that individual items are considered to have by the author.
When building bespoke CMS systems in the past, I have done this sort of thing by using an integer column in the database and either a drag- and-drop ordering system or simple 'move up' and 'move down' arrows in the listing of items. I did think that maybe a rule might help, but I'm having trouble finding a good reference to how rules should be put together. I have worked through the 'Book of FarCry' materials too, so I'm aware of the array field type, but this seems to be for ordering child or related content types. The section on rules hasn't yet been completed. -- You received this message cos you are subscribed to "farcry-dev" Google group.
