First, yes if you change the type from standard to file library you will have to reindex.
As far as the error you are seeing, I'm not sure why you would be seeing that one. I would have to do some testing. Unfortunately, I don't have time to do it this week and I leave on (a long awaited :) vacation on Saturday. I would suggest that you first ensure you have the latest version of the Solr plugin and the latest version of FarCry core. 6.0.11 is a little out of date right now, and I have recently fixed some bugs in the Solr plugin. Once you have those updated, I would try again. If you continue to get the error, I would either post here again, or try and track down the bug yourself. When you report the bug again, be sure to note which line the error is happening on, and in which file otherwise a generic error message of "element is undefined..." could really be coming from anywhere and we won't be able to easily help.
