The download tracking is meant to handle the problem where admins in Google
Analytics itself can't tell what a particular download is for, based on the
tracked url. By tracking /download/some-file instead, it's easier to read.
The downside of that is that FarCry itself can no longer recognise the
statistic.
I've updated the plugin so that it should be able to report on download.cfm
links, which gives you a couple of options:
If you're willing to give up readable URLs in google analytics:
- replace the existing download tracking event:
$j('a[href*="download.cfm"]').off("click.track").on("click.track",function(){
$j.ga.trackURL(this.href); });
if you want readable URLs in google analytics AND reporting in the FarCry
webtop:
- add an attribute to every download link:
data-trackurl="#application.fc.lib.ga.getTrackableURL(objectid=fileid)#"
- replace the existing download tracking event:
$j('a[href*="download.cfm"]').off("click.track").on("click.track",function(){
$j.ga.trackURL($j(this).data("trackurl")); });
