Creating a custom extension dmHTML of the core dmHTML doesn't have to edit the core code. It does, however, prevent that particular farcry web from using the unextended dmHTML in a natural way.
So, if you will want to distinguish between the two, I would create a dmHTMLPlus that extends the core's dmHTML object. Your web could then use both dmHTML and dmHTMLPlus objects. I'm not sure if this is a good best practice or not, but I typically use a prefix different from 'dm' on my custom components, to distinguish them from core components (and possibly custom components written by other people one day). I use 'sp', an abreviation of my department, "Special Projects Office". -Tyler ------------ Tyler Ham [EMAIL PROTECTED] Special Projects Office College of Natural Sciences The University of Texas at Austin > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On > Behalf Of Mcgraw_vw (sent by Nabble.com) > Sent: Thursday, September 22, 2005 10:53 AM > To: FarCry Developers > Subject: [farcry-dev] RE: Farcry - positioning text on pages > > Tyler G Ham wrote: > It sounds like you might want to extend the dmHTML > component and add a > couple more body fields - maybe bodyColumnTwo and > bodyColumnThree. > You'll also need to add the fields to the edit plp of > your extended > dmHTML component. > > Thats a great idea.. > However Is there a way to make another type, without editing > the core, that would allow you to create a dmHTML ot a > dmHTMLPlus type?
