As promised, we are about to start the move from our old Altaway account to a new server. However, since I first notified you all of this impending move, some problems have arisen. The company we originally chose to host Xenite.Org proved to be unusable. We have arranged for a dedicated server with another hosting company, but we don't expect that server to be available before close of business on Monday. In the meantime, we expect Altaway to pull the plug on our account on Sunday. We have arranged to temporarily host Xenite.Org on a THIRD server, until the dedicated server is ready. It will take us a while to configure it properly after we have access to it. Regrettably, there is no way that we can avoid a disruption of email services. The mailing lists will temporarily cease to function. Many, if not all, of you who try to post to the lists starting tomorrow will receive bounce notices. We do not anticipate losing the list services for more than a week at most. We will try very hard to get them up and going on the new dedicated server as quickly as possible. But tonight we will activate the temporary server. As the DNS record changes are rolled out to name servers around the world, you will gradually lose the ability to send email to any Xenite.Org lists. Some addresses, such as [EMAIL PROTECTED], SHOULD continue to work. But [EMAIL PROTECTED] will be temporarily lost. So will whichever mailing lists you are subscribed to. I am truly sorry for this disruption. It could not be avoided. I tried to work with the first hosting company for five days before I decided to cancel that account. Those five days pretty much killed our chances of making a smooth transition. In the meantime, I invite you all to participate in our forums at SF-FANDOM.COM. These forums are running on a dedicated server completely separate from Xenite.Org. SF-FANDOM will continue to function normally. We have an OTHER FEEDBACK forum under the SF-FANDOM announcements category. If you need to contact the Xenite.Org administrators while the mailing lists are down, please use that forum. All current subscriptions to the mailing lists will be preserved. Some attempts to subscribe to the lists over the next few days will fail. I will send out another announcement when the mailing lists are all activated on our dedicated server next week.
