He discussed the various initiatives underway at IBM for improving application
development with the IBM data servers. But simple automation is not sufficient.
I think it is worth mentioning that in the past we had less data and it was
usually available only to people inside the corporation. But that just means it
is a failure of upper management to support the cost of doing business.
Furthermore, if you do decide to convert from IMS to DB2, be sure to use DB2 as
it was intended to be used. Most management tools available today leave this
analysis and execution up to the user. If everybody's thinking alike, somebody
isn't thinking.
Today, he is widely regarded as the current principal maintainer and developer
of the relational model. I think it is worth mentioning that in the past we had
less data and it was usually available only to people inside the corporation.
I hope to post additional blog entries about this week's IDUG conference for
those who cannot attend. let the encryption begin! One useful measure of large
databases is offered by Winter Corp.
Do we talk in terms of number of rows or number of pages (or blocks)? This week
I am in Vienna, Austria, for the annual European International DB2 User Group
conference. Also, be sure to train your programmers to write SQL queries.
Weather reports indicate that it will get rainy later in the week, but so far,
the weather is beautiful.
and that creates confusion. With data sharing, one DB2 can be changed while the
others continue to run all workload with no outages. Just a brief blog entry
today to recommend a recent article in DB2 Magazine.
The book contains over 6090 entries dealing with issues, terms, and concepts
involved in, or arising from use of, the relational model of data. this guy is
doing the public an injustice by writing this fictional information about
something he knows nothing about. Using intelligent automation will help to
reduce the amount of time, effort, and human error associated with managing
databases and complex applications.
In other words, when upper level management asks how many DBAs are needed the
answer is always "one more. Yes, we are nerds, but we don't like being reminded
of that fact! but little in the way of correcting the underlying root causes.
and simple answers like "one more" become the norm.
The weather here in Vienna is quite nice - cool and sunny and in the mid 70's.
5 million transactions per twelve-hour day against HDAM and HIDAM databases
totaling close to 1 terabyte.
