Luckily, I wrote down how to do that. :-)
I just commented out some lines from Makefile.rules, like this:

#ifneq ($(REQUIRES_RTTI), 1)
#  CXX.Flags += -fno-rtti
#endif

I compiled using configure though. Don't know if it the above trick works
for cmake as well.
