I've definitely made a whole polyphonic drum machine (6 note poly with a
global reverb) that responds to usb midi control on a teensy using Faust. I
was able to compile it on 3.6 and 3.2 with less polyphony and a lesser
quality reverb

3.2 has different specs, it does less generally. With the audio shield, you
should be able to make simple effects pretty well.

I would recommend the 3.6 or greater for anything that's doing more complex
processing. In general, software and tutirials will be more supported in
the latest hardware targets
