Hi All I am a Dummy guy and started looking in to VN2VN based on FC-BB-6 specification. I would like setup a Direct VN2VN setup (with only Initiator and Target, no DCB/Switch). I am a Ph.D student and don nott have much budget to buy FCF compatible switches and 10 GbE Network Adapters. So, I want to build a Direct VN2VN with 2 Linux boxes. I have some questions in this regard.
Q1. Can i build the Direct VN2VN setup(with only Initiator and Target, no DCB/switch i.e. 2 Linux boxes connected back to back) with current/latest code from the open-fcoe.org based on FC-BB-6 specification? What is the better Operating Systems for the open-fcoe development? Q2. What kind of Network adapters can be used here? Shall I use the 1 Gigabit NICs (not 10 GbE due to lake of Budget)? This for experiment, not for Production. Please point me to a compatible/working adapters list or make/models based on your experience. Q3. Can i build the VN2VN setup using normal 1 Gigabit NICs(not 10 GbE) and a Gigabit Switch(not DCB). In this case both Initiator and Target connected via a Giagbit switch. This a normal Gigabit Network in my College lab. Please hep me out to plan for a better setup to analyze the FCoE based FC-BB-6 for my Ph.D Thesis. Since, this is for experiment, not for Production, If works that's fine. Apologies in advance, if it is too much Basic Question in to this forum.
