Hmmm. I thought the difference was that Dan's claim is sound conjecture,
while Noah is fiction (or allegory if you want to dignify it). But
either way, what did *not* happen is the world entirely covered with
water. Kevin Costner not withstanding, there is not enough water to do
the job. If you melted every drop and dumped it in the sea, the sea
level would rise about 80 meters http://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/fs2-00/

That's enough to devastate most major cities in the world, and would
turn the Mississippi river delta into the Gulf of Mississipi, and even
flood Paris. But it is not enough to flood even St. Louis, and Zurich is
quite safe.
