The Islandora Project recently received a grant for ongoing development of the Islandora project and associated solution packs and community framework. As part of this multi-year effort we will be looking for collaborative opportunities with institutions using Islandora, as well as developers interested in doing contract work. Over the coming months we will be providing details on specific projects and development opportunities. More information about Islandora is available at http://islandora.ca/.
Our immediate requirement is for developers to work on a SCORM-compliant learning object repository. If you know of existing Drupal/Fedora collections/projects that work with SCORM objects, or have an interest in getting involved in the development of the solution, please drop me a line. I have included a high-level description of the project below. Some of the requirements below are provided in existing Islandora/Drupal modules, so we are looking for integration and development. - Ingest module for SCORM objects that stores the original object and extracts components of the metadata for index/display. - Ingest module for non-SCORM objects, including basic metadata creation and attachment to existing SCORM object. - Threaded discussions, rating/voting system that can be tied to any object in the LOR. - Searching, browsing and displaying of metadata and ability to download selected SCORM objects and associated items. - Ability to launch the selected SCORM object with an external SCORM player/ RTE. - RSS feeds on comments and new uploads. - Defined group/roles with various permission levels. Please also feel free to post thoughts/comments to the list.
