Hi

Apologies for references to fedora/muradora - we are using fedora with a
muradora front end and so my question applies to both applications.

We are at present attempting to preserve the correct diacritics in our
metadata relating to, for example, personal names. However, we are now
wondering how this will affect user searching in fedora and muradora. In a
nutshell, many of our users will be accessing the system from their own
pcs/laptops with the standard asci keyboard and may not know how to include
diacritics in their search strings.

So, for example, if we ingest a datastream with the artist name Kollwitz,
Käthe, with the umlaut correctly preserved in the metadata, will
fedora/muradora find the correct result if the user searches under Kollwitz,
Kathe rather than Kollwitz, Käthe? I know some library indexing systems will
support this, but how will muradora and fedora behave? Has anyone had
experience of this?

Cheers
