I currently run a Fedora 3.2 server on my local 4GB, 2GHz Intel Core 2, Win XP laptop (with a PostgreSQL DB and otherwise default settings) and have very disappointing performance with web service calls to the server. They take between 1 and 4 seconds per call, mostly between 1s and 2s. Are these values to be expected? What do other people get on what kind of platform and configuration?
