Hello Users,

First Please allow me to explain you what I am trying to achieve...

I am trying to build new binary repository and was wondering if I can use
Fedora Commons for this purpose. As expected the objects have relationships
(external and internal) like compatibilities and dependencies.

The actual binary itself will be stored on external storage. I would sincerely
appreciate if somebody can shed some light and share their experiences on how
we can achieve this. Also let me know if you have had issues using these
specific pieces and how did you do it?

Here are my questions:

1 ) Every Binary has Meta Data associated to it.

2) we will also have the external location of the binary itself stored in the
object.

3) Retrieve and search based on compatibilities and dependencies. For example I
would like to retrieve product A and its compatible software only.

4) How to handle version of binaries.. ?: (Major and Minor )

5) Localization of meta data..

6) Also geo Specific Product Search .. For example China will retrieve only
Chinese specific Binaries.

7) Is replication or mirroring webapp servers only way to scale?

8) Entitlement (may be) and Audit Trail

9) Authentication (LDAP and also external)

10) Would like to use oracle backend db (I know its possible)

11) Since we don't intend to store binary itself but a mere reference do we use
Content Model Object instead of Data Object. Any Known Drawbacks.

Your help will be very beneficial for me to take this project to next level.
Please understand that moving of bits will all happen externally but the
repository will be updated using API. Intention is to make this one source of
truth for all binaries.

Thanks,
Vamsee
