https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=494158 Rahul Bhalerao <rbhal...@redhat.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |CLOSED Resolution| |NOTABUG --- Comment #4 from Rahul Bhalerao <rbhal...@redhat.com> 2009-04-06 07:03:14 EDT --- The explicit use the length marks is not approved by Unicode, they are used only for the rendering purpose. The data entered should use the authentic 'ai' matra character only. This is a bug with the data on the given website. The reason Pothana tends to give right output is that, it does not have a glyph for U+25cc, i.e. the dotted circle which is used to notify the invalid syllable, such as a vowel sign without a consonant. The obvious disadvantage of not having dotted circle is that, it may allow users to type in wrong sequences without notifying. So, from both the rendering and font point of view, its not a bug. For getting the right and authentic output with universally valid data, please use the 'AI' Matra character U+0c48, and drop the use if the length mark U+0c56. The problem should be reported back to the website, if possible. >From Pothana's point of view, it should include a glyph for U+25cc at right position to avoid confusion and use of invalid sequences. As I can see, it has the glyph, but not at right position. As pothana is still in packaging process for fedora, the problem can be reported only upstream. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug. _______________________________________________ Fedora-fonts-bugs-list mailing list Fedora-fonts-bugs-list@redhat.com https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-fonts-bugs-list
