experience with Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) communities/ecosystems:

     o

So I don't have any direct experience with FOSS other than using
software and reading toooons of documentation so I can figure
out how things work lol. I do have a few years experience as an
activist and organizer. From what I can tell  the structure and
ways of getting things done are very similar.

     o

I imagine starting off  im interested in QA seems like a place
where I can be exposed to different things and learn a bunch.
One day I'd like to make a career out of Open Source and maybe
       contribute to the Linux kernel.

   My background and skills:

     o

Ive been messing around with Linux and computer stuff off and on
since I was a teen. Mostly figuring out how to get free stuff
and maker it work, because being a broke kid you cant really
afford new hardware. lol  I wanted originally to college to be a
programmer but I ended up going to trade school for machining.
I did that for a bit then I had my son and wanted to spend more
time with him so I went into sales. I was laid off last year and
while I was home  I remembered how much I liked messing around
with raspberry pi and Linux. So for over a year now I've just
been studying and learning as much as I can. I decided to go to
school for Software engineering and I start April 1st. I'm
       pretty excited.

     o

Currently running the sway spin on my old think pad yoga 12 ,
Fedora server on my mini pc and workstation 39 on a repurposed
thin client on my living room TV.  It's pretty much used for
youtube and steam remote play. Also my desktop is running win
       11. Id go with Linux but Counterstrike still doesn't run well on
it yet and my school requires me to use it or Mac....

     o

I have a pretty basic but solid understanding of Linux, how to
use bash and git. I have a home server running Fedora server .I
mess around with and I'm using it as a remote Dev server with
ssh and podman. I plan to also use it as a jellyfin server. Idk
how I'm gonna connect the hdds I have cuz its a mini pc so maybe
some type of diy NAS? I want to learn as much as I can about OCI
containers. I've been learning a bunch about it and I just think
its neat. Also flatpak they seems to work pretty well(better
than snap imo) and it seems like the future.

     o

im currently not super great at programming. I did python a
bunch a few years ago but took a long break. Seems like a bunch
has change and im at square one lol. I've been messing around
with rust since I found out its been introduced into Linux.
Currently doing the interactive rustlings tutorial. I know basic
syntax but yeah not making anything crazy anytime soon. I wanna
make CLI  apps and embedded stuff and just whatever.

   Communication platforms:

     o

Ive used mailing list in the past when doing organizing but it
was mostly only used for national/regional  level discussions.
State and local used slack, discord, signal and traditional
       forums stuff like that.

     o

I'd say my preferred lately has been discord most people I know
IRL are on it and the Counter Strike league I'm in uses it.
Matrix is pretty awesome I'm using the element client and I'm
configuring WeeChat to use matrix on my laptop cuz i just love
terminal apps lol. Not to mention its Open source and I've been
really making an effort to switch to FOSS wherever I can.

   Time commitment:

     o

right now a couple hours a week like 5ish. I'm going back to
school for the first time in like 6 years so I wanna get back in
the groove. Once I have a good feeling for how the Fedora
community functions and how schools gonna go I can make a more
       sure answer.

But yeah so far from what I seen the Fedora community is awesome and I've been wanting to get involved for a wile now, figured I'd make the jump. Looks like my values and the communities line up so I'm excited.  Any questions for me just ask!
