I have a laptop that I balance on one leg.  This way the vents are not
obstructed.  Yuck.  Luckily it is a small one (Averatec AV1020, 10.6"
screen).

Another laptop doesn't *seem* to have vents on the bottom, but I'm not
sure (ThinkPad X61t).

The laptop coolers that they have for sale seem to prove that at least
some laptops are defective by design.

The Intel Atom processor seems a step in the right direction.  Too bad
that they haven't released an appropriately low-power support chipset
for it.
