It must have been some sort of glitch, now it is all working; firefox
and other applications switch to offline mode when the laptop looses its
network connection, but switching the application out of offline mode
manually, makes it possible to connect to,localhost as expecten.
Sorry to have bothered you all with this non-issue, I don't know what
went wrong earlier today, but it's fine now.
