As a teen I was big into Anne Rice and the Vampire chronicles. (Before vampires went all mainstream :P) I was working in an alternative clothing store which was only ever manned by one staff member. I was the manager and worked weekdays and I hired another member of staff to work weekends. It got quiet at times there and I would always have a book with me. Once I had read all of Anne Rices work I was at a loss as to what to read next and while sorting out the cabinet under the till I found a copy of magician in amongst all the bits. I read the first chapter before home time on the Friday and left it under the counter. When I returned on Monday the book had Vanished and I had forgotton the title and author. 6 months later at the Christmas function, I spoke to Mathew, the weekender and asked if he knew what book it was, all I could remember after that time was the crab collecting and the wizard who rescued him. When I returned to Work after christmas, there was the same copy of the book on the desk, wrapped in a ribbon. Heh.
