In answer to your question its not always the publishers fault - for example
for a long while Baen sold individual ebooks at $6 however since they were
finally able to come to an agreement with Amazon they had to change their
prices - individual ebooks are now $6.99, $8.99 or $9.99 depending on whether
its available in mass-market paperback, trade paperback or hardcover. The
prices do change when the cheaper physical versions come out but they couldn't
keep their old prices as Amazon effectively have a 'you can't sell cheaper
otherwise we'll drop our price to match and claw it back from what we pay you'
policy as far as I understand it.

Subject: Converted...

Hello Gang!

I know that I have been pretty adamant about NOT ever using an e-book device
since there's nothing like a real book, BUT I have to confess, I've been
converted! I received a Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas from my best friend
and brother from another mother Mat Fisher, who knew that if I ever used one of
these devices I would be converted in 30 seconds flat and he was RIGHT! :)

Thanks Mat!! :)

Shells:)

P.S. My only gripe at this point would be, WHY does an e-book cost the same as
a real book does? When the publishers are saving on the cost of printing a
book??
