I made the mistake once when asked what I wanted to drink on tour (back in '92 
I believe it was) of joking "Glennfiddich."  They were asking if I wanted still 
water, or sparkling or tap or a soft drink, whatever.  So bottles of 
Glennfiiddich start showing up on the first two days.  That's when I realize 
either the British booksellers have no sense of humor or touring authors mostly 
have no sense of humor.  I left them behind (to the joy of most booksellers) 
because I couldn't lug bottles along on plane rides.

I never drink during a signing, and in fact cut back a great deal when I'm 
working on the road.  A dram before bedtime, maybe.
