Actually, you could probably drop Windows 7 to 1 GB (or maybe less) if you 
stripped away all the unnecessary programs MS includes in the Windows install 
(Internet Explorer, Noptepad, etc etc).

An OS should only provide the basic necessities to be able to:

* Support basic input hardware (keyboard mouse)
* Support basic monitor resolutions
* Support and access a hard drive
* Necessary APIs/Hooks for drivers/applications

Everything else is icing on the cake.

Anestis (who grew up in the good old days where DOS and your application ran in 
128K of memory and off floppy disks).
