The above is why a lot of writers hide in caves and don't talk to readers.  Not 
being mean, Michael, 'cause I know what you mean, but it's the lack of 
precision that gets writers crazy.  You can't plagiarize from yourself.  
Plagiarism is a legal term, not a literary term.

But I get what people meant at that time.  Look, there are only so many tropes, 
themes, story elements, etc. in a fantasy adventure context and sooner or later 
you're going to be walking over familiar territory a second, or third time.    
Hal getting Stephané out of Roldem/Arutha getting Anita out of Krondor?  Sure, 
similar themes, but entirely different political, social, dramatic contexts.

In the end I've sacked a few castles, had a couple of armies swarm over the 
countryside, had boys grow up to act heroic, had evil critters acting 
evil-like, etc.

I like to think that I changed it up along the way and kept it interesting.
