Hi Ray,

Like countless others on this mailing list i'd like to thank you for
everything.

I won't go on about it as i could easily write a thesis on all the amazing
moments you've given me through your writing, even the various friendships
that i so cherish with the characters in your books. I think calling it
"writing" doesn't do it justice, to me it's more like you created portals
to an amazing place that i was lucky enough to discover and lose myself in.

Anyway, i've literally just finished Magician's End and decided i'd like to
just read the first chapter of the Magician again (which belongs to my
father). I discovered your signature in the front cover of the original
revised edition that you first released. As such i asked my dad about it
and he told me that he met you at a book signing when you were touring with
what must have been A Darkness at Sethanon. Of course i then found your
signature in both Silverthorn and DaS. Anyway, this all took place in
Hobart, Tasmania in 1986. Obviously sad that you're not coming down this
way for the signing but it is quite the detour. If i'm not drowning in
exams (University student) i'll make the trip to Melbourne in June.

Other than that, i'm a musician that travels to the US once every year or
so, and i'm sure i'll be able to say a friendly hello at some stage.

Thanks again Ray,

I hope you're well,
Sam.
