I think Felix has a point. We have a release now and people should start to use it and stop relying on HEAD. I guess it boils down to whether you assume to get the trunk back into shape in a reasonable amount of time v.s. a couple of month messing around. Personally, I'd prefer work to be done in HEAD in order to avoid clutter but its your call.

I agree with Chris, that a branch and merge back would probably be best. On the other hand, this whole project is work in progress anyway and a release has been cut.
