Whew! That's good. Thanks for the bug report!!

It's built regularly on Linux, but the machine
is on Slicehost (now Rackspace) running Ubuntu 12 something
 LTS and can't install gcc 4.7 without adding extra paths to the
/etc/apt-get/sources  file. I'm loathe to fiddle with it since the machine
is remote and so hard to maintain if something goes wrong.

Actually I would like to use 4.7++ and clang 3.0++ to try out some
of the new C++11 features.

Felix would be very interested in the unicode strings
for example. 

Also, the design of variants would change 
radically if the relaxed unions were available (neither
gcc nor clang implements that yet. 

I moved a similar motion prior to the
original standard being passed and threatened a veto
if it wasn't fixed.  It wasn't fixed. Grrr.

Well at least the new blood got it done finally.
