Subject: Update on Bones (good news!)
Bones and I are back from the specialist today. Bones has a "Caudal end
plate fracture of L3 Vertebrae", and possible pelvic fractures also, but
the pelvic fractures did not show on x-ray (but the vet says she is
unusually tender in the hips, and feels "off" on palpation). She said that
Bones is really doing so much better than can really be expected from this
injury (she's like, best case scenario at this point), and that she
doesn't see any need to go into surgery right now, and so Bones is now on
anti-inflammatory drugs and complete bed rest for a month. If she gets
worse, then we could still end up in surgery, but this is something that
could heal on it's own. So, YEAH, good news! The vet really seemed to like
her, She wanted to see Bones walk, and so I called her out of the kennel,
and Bones swayed her way over to the doctor, and then she made a nice big
circle around the room, as if she knew exactly what the doctor wanted. The
doctor said "Oh what a good little kitty, you made such a nice circle for
us, what a good girl!". Hehe, she really is a cute little cat, you can't
help but be taken in by her winning little personality! Now, how to keep
her from pacing the cage and trying to chew her way to freedom will be the
problem. She's already going NUTS in the bathroom, and I've been told that
that is too much space, and she needs to be in a 2x3 foot cage at max
(just enough room for her to stretch out comfortably and fit a litterpan
and food bowls), so she cannot walk around, and is basically forced to
lay, sit or stand still for a month. I have to buy a cage, but don't have
the money til next payday, so she has a few more days of pacing the
bathroom until she's a real prisoner. The poor cat does not understand
that we are trying to SAVE her, she thinks we are intentionally locking
her in alone and ignoring her. I already feel guilty, and it hasn't even
really begun yet. Hopefully, if I get one of the open wire type of dog
cages, where she can see out all sides, it will help to calm her down and
make her feel less confined than being closed behind a solid door. I gotta
get pictures for you guys so you can see her. Oh, and she weighs 5.7
pounds.. told you she was TINY! (at least compared to my 12 to 14 pound
fat-so's)
Ok, off to change litterboxes, shower, tend to Bones, make dinner, and
then get a few hours sleep. Man, getting up at 5:00am, driving 150 miles
with a meowing cat, then going to work all day and not getting home til
after 10:00pm... I'm kinda exhausted! :)

I collect KMR kitten formula labels for Bazil, a 3 yr old special needs

Bazil's caretaker collects labels and sends them to KMR, where they add up
until she earns a free can of formula!
