Tad,
I would agree with you..up to a point. The clutter mess...not good...not as bad as a small cage, but then..you can't really CLEAN around clutter...so not only do you have to view the clutter, but what its hiding.
Yeah, there were lots of food bags laying around, and yes it was quality food and cats like to play in those bags...but...what were the bags laying on top of? What unsanitary conditions were they obsecuring.
The rotting corpuses were the kicker tho. Those weren't animals that had been just expired...esp. the dogs, those were bodies that had been laying for days, weeks, the one cat and esp. the dog skull...for months or more. IF the bodies were laying around for weeks...were they feeding the animals around the dead bodies...or not feeding the animals so they didn't notice the dead ones? And if they aren't going to pick up and toss a dead animal, you can be SURE they aren't washing the food bowls or water bowls.
And the cat feces in the one room was absolutely uncalled for.

I would like to point out a couple things....I and others have heard of the Angel Wings on Long Island NY....This is not the same one that we have the pictures of in Tenn....
Please don't confuse the 2 as I believe the one on Long Island continues to be a very well run place...
Secondly...These pictures look like someone went there and photographed all the bad stuff they could find...The dead animals were bad...What I had expected to see was cages stacked to the ceiling in a dark room with one small window....Actuall...I don't know a cat that wouldn't rather be ending his life by basking in the sun atop a junk wood pile or hanging around a junk car in the tall grass than being locked up in a 2 x 3 cage...
But surprisingly they didn't show but a couple cats...Some had been shaved but their ribs weren't showing...I would like to form my opinion of this place on some detailed pictures of all the cats and perhaps a video of these cats reacting with their people...Pictures of empty Science Diet bags thrown out behind the house don't really tell me much except that somebody has been eating well...
Maybe before we bash all shelters and homes we could set up a home visit type of data base of these types of places so we could recommend or not from out own personal experience rather than some unknown person who very well mat be a cat hater....
What do you think ???
Tad
