Hi Jenn . . .I had calculated that it would be
about a 12 hour drive each way . . .which is "doable" . . .but I don't trust my
car that much . . .I don't know if my car would make it . . .the good news is
that I think we have it worked out . . .I'm going to fly to Nashville, and Kara
will meet me there.
There are still a few more details to be worked out
. . .but right now I'm more hopeful that we'll be able to work it out. If
Kevin and Lucky are found (two feral FIV kitties), then I will drive to
Knoxville at that time . . .will just have to have some work done on my car
before I can do that.
Thanks for your input . . .it's good to know where
the speed traps are . . .that information will come in handy if and when I drive
to Knoxville!
Take care,
Sally

You're in Oklahoma City, OK, right? That's
what, about an hour and a half drive to the Arkansas border on I-40? It's only
a 3 hour or so drive across the entire state of Arkansas, then another
4-5 across Tennessee to Knoxville from Memphis. If I was that close, I'd just
drive out there, personally. I have family in TN and AR, so I know all
the routes down there, it would be a very easy drive, main 4 to
6 lane interstates or divided highway the entire way, 60 to 75 MPH
speeds. If you stream behind a semi-truck going 80, you'd be there in no time.
I've personally done 90 across the entire state of AR, except through the
Little Rock area, where the cops like to take radar, and made the ride to
Memphis from Fort Smith in 2 hours and 48 minutes. Wish I still lived down
there, so I could help! It would be a LONG all day trip, but it could be
done in one day if you pushed yourself, or easily if you found a driving
partner who could trade off driving part of the time, or if you didn't mind
staying over in Knoxville one night.

Thank you, Jenn . . .I hope she's
not trying to call me at work . . .I am staying home today to work on
transportation for Zachary. I want to get him home ASAP . . .I don't
want him to endure any more stress than necessary at this point in time.
My plan is to fly there and get him . . .I am trying to find someone to
transport from Kingston to Atlanta . . . and meet me at the airport there . .
.Prices for this are incredible! I haven't travelled in years and am
shocked to see how much it costs! I have talked with Kara a few times. .
.will call her right now . .
The story on Zachary is pretty
amazing . . .he's #167T. In January 2003, he was turned into Animal
Control. No i.d. and not neutered. When he tested positive for
FIV, AC officer told me they would PTS in three days. I couldn't find a
home for him here, so he was sent to AW. Eleven days later a woman
called me saying that was her parents' cat . . .when I told her he was
now in Tennessee and that she could pay to fly him back here, she decided that
it wasn't her parents' cat. :
) I called the parents
yesterday, showed them the picture of 167T, and they immediately recognized
their Moe . . .had him since he was a kitten. . .and they want him back.
They are an elderly couple. ..the woman has Parkinson's ( she used to
rescue/feed feral cats before she became sick) . . .Moe means the world to
them. They want to spend the rest of their lives holding him and loving
him. These people have a renewed interest in life now that they may get
to see their Moe again . . .they have promised to keep him inside only if he
is returned safely to them. I just so very much want that to
happen.
Jenn, I so very much appreciate
your help in this whole deal. . . .Zachary (AKA Moe) has a happy reunion ahead
of him. If only it didn't cost $900.00 to travel to Knoxville!!!! . . .
.I'd be there right now if I could . . .
Sally
