blood vessels (associated with the uterus/ovaries) being enlarged and

that effect...I'm not entirely sure. But Lola was certainly in heat,
and I even mentioned this to the vet the day of the surgery having heard
that a cat in heat shouldn't be spayed...but my vet didn't even bat an
eye...and Lola came through with flying colors! :)
