Hi, I am so sorry to hear about Smokey – I am glad that you found us,,, the group of people who are on this list are just amazing,,, I am on several different support list, but I adore this group so very much – they are so many people with lots of experience… not judgemental… and supportive – I hope you will find lots of lots of advise –

I am not too familiar with conventional treatment and its effect since I follow holistic treatment, and my FeLV+ kitty, Ginger is doing very good so I have not really looked into conventional treatment.. I am sending you the link which may suggest different treatments in case you haven’t read it.

Have you run the complete blood test to see what it shows?  If you haven’t, I would recommend that you do.. it will give you some idea on how she might be doing internally (anemic?? Any organs are effected?) – and I am glad that you said “NO” to your vet when s/he recommended you put Smokey to sleep – you know when it’s time.. and you know it’s not time yet.. you and Smokey has a lot of fighting to do!  So, be ready!

I am assuming that lots of people who may suggest Omega Interferon which will be easier for you to get since you are in UK – again, I haven’t used it myself.. so you will have to see how it does for everyone else on the list.. also immunoregulin.. again, I haven’t used it myself.. but michelle on this list have used for her kitty, and is working for her..

I give supplement to Ginger every day which may include the following which was suggested by Dr. Basko in Hawaii

Vitamin C powder (sodium ascorbate)

CoQ10 enzyme

Transfer Factor

Kelp

Miatake mushroom powder

Shiitake mushroom powder

DMG

Astralogas (sorry, I can’t spell – but it’s a type of herb – I will double check the spelling)

I also give her a shot of Vitamin B-12 and B-comples periodically..

Again, there are people who have a lot more experienced that I do.. so expect to receive lots of information.

I will be praying that Smoky will get better very very soon!

Subject: Smokey....

Hi there,

My name is John, i'm from Newcastle, England.  Me and my partner Julie discovered on Saturday that our lovely cat Smokey has Leukemia.  Needless to say we are both totally devastated with the news.  Smokey is very special to us because she just decided to come and live with us about 3 year ago.  We would never normally have got a cat, but one day Smokey just came through our homes window, and the rest is history.  Since then she has been the center of all our attention.

She is taking Predisalone steroids 5mg twice daily. Our vet just suggested we put her to sleep, but we declined, because she doesn't seem too poorley at present. She is very sleepy all the time (but then again she always has been) but just a bit more than usual.  She has lost alot of weight. She is still eating, but very little, and she seems to be drinking loads. We take her out the back a couple of times a day and she has a little run about, but gets tired very quickly.

Can you reccommend any supplement or anything else we could give her too help her along the way??

Thanks,

John, Julie, Smokey.

PS. it's really good to read everyones emails, thanks.
