The main issue is to make sure your vet gives euthasol in the vein. Some vet's
give
Euthasol (euthasol is pink) or a blue solution in the stomach, and this takes
longer
to act unless the cat is VERY ill. The blue kind seemed to take even longer to
act,
and I will specifically request the PINK euthasol from now on. I have had both
forms
of euthanasia done, and I prefer the euthasol via IV. It works in 3 to 10
seconds,
whereas the other euthanasia solution given in the stomach take 30 seconds to a
minute (which seems like an eternity when you are holding them and saying
goodbye). I
have never had a vet offer or give a sedative before euthanasia, in fact, I had
never
even heard of that until joining this list. All except ONE of the animals I had
put
down went very peacefully. The one that went bad was a VET mistake, she missed
the
vein and injected it Sub-Q. It was VERY nasty and heart-breaking, the dog cried
and
thrashed around for a full 2 or 3 minutes in agony (this was the same vet that
told
me ringer's solution given sub-q would slough the skin off). God, I hope she's
not
still in business! Anyways.. back to the topic. Just make sure you have a good
vet
and it goes in IV.

I'm so sorry to hear that it's Cricket's time. I hope his euthanasia is
peaceful and
painless. The fact that you are researching it shows how much you care, and I'm
sure
he appreciates it.

I collect KMR kitten formula labels for Bazil, a 3 yr old special needs cat who
must
live on a liquid diet for the rest of his life.
Bazil's caretaker collects labels and sends them to KMR, where they add up
until she
earns a free can of formula!
PLEASE save your KMR kitten formula labels for Bazil!

If you use KMR, even just one can, please email me for the NEW address to send
them
to!
