Dear Belinda,
I am in dilemma between whether I should start epogen right now or I
should wait -- if his kidney condition gets better from fluid therapy, I
wonder if his HCT will go up on its own, then I thought I should wait as
I understand that I can't stop using epogen once start using - do you
think I am making a bad decision?

    Hideyo,
Bailey has been on the epogen now for 4 full weeks and his HCT has gone

from it's lowest of 15% to 27%, it actually got lower after he started
the epogen and this happens very frequently that the HCT goes lower and
then starts to rise. It generally takes about 3 weeks to see a positive

increase, Bailey's was going up after about 2 and a half weeks. When
Bailey was first at 21%, we got the epogen and he had in the meantime
gone down to 19%, after starting epogen he went to 18% and then 15%.
Then he went to 23%, held at 23%, and then in week 4 and a half it went
to 27%, tomorrow will be the start of week 5. To me it is definitely
worth it.
