How about we allow another week, and put a deadline on 12 Jan?
I don't think there are major changes implied by any of the outstanding
issues, so we can use this period to do some 'alpha' testing on
'master'...
If anyone has some user codes they want to check will work with 1.5, now
is the time to try it out.
