Thanks Dave.. I've finally managed to find a version of Ruby (1.8.2-15) which passes the .dump test above. Using: http://rubyforge.org/frs/?group_id=167
Now, the headache is.. I can't find an RMagick gem to go with it (which I need for my Rails app) - the rmagick repo only has gems for 1.8.4 and 1.8.5.
