Aaf logs something like 
"Adding field fieldname with value 'fieldvalue' to index"
whenever it indexes a record.

If everything works correctly, it should. How does your test code for
adding a keyword and saving the record look like?

What do you mean by 'live search'? Search-as-you-type is no problem, but
this hasn't to do much with indexing...
