For those who don't know about the Dot Org monthly meetings, it is designed to create an opportunity to discuss the 'behind the scenes' goings-on of both Bellingham Linux Users Group (BLUG) activities and the LinuxFest NorthWest (LFNW) conference planning. As our intention of making all of BLUG and LFNW transparent for all, anyone and everyone is invited to attend 'Dot Org' meetings or join the mailing list. We are especially interested in folks who have expressed an interest in participating with these planning/discussion meetings. We would definitely like to see more input and ideas from others ! I would like to especially encourage those folks to attend the 2nd Thursday of the month, Dot Org meetings, 7 pm to 8:30 pm (ish). Starting from July's meeting, I'll be forwarding on the monthly meeting minutes to both the BLUG and FEST lists, to help keep people informed in various discussions and decision making processes. I will also try to highlight two or three topics from each posting, of especial interest to others. I would also encourage folks to participate in the future of BLUG and LFNW, as we involve and grow into bigger and better things ! Items of note from Aug's meeting: --------------- * BLUG - closed bank account, donated balance to LFNW non-profit. * BLUG - Linux / Open Source book library looking at new location for checkout. * LFNW - further documentation of tasks on the wiki. * BLUG/LFNW - Farmer’s Market outreach booth a success . * LFNW - Several changes discussed for next year's conference. -------- Next Dot Org Meeting (Jacob's House): November 11th, 7 pm to 8:30 pm (ish). Posting to Dev Site-Process started by Emily who was absent. 6. LFNW signage-Anthony: Pictures of signs given to Emily. 7. LFNW additional shirts-Carl: design posted to list. Will follow-up with costs 8. Business Cards- Completed. B. New Business: 1.Wiki-Iain a. Needs guidance on content and audience. b. Structure up and running. To be used by LFNW staff and volunteers. c. Should list required event processes, equipment, and tasks to do LFNW. 2.Package deals for Sponsors/Attendees-Jacob a. Proposed package deals for Sponsors and or attendees which include shirts, lunch, tickets , listed sponsored name , etc at prices set by levels or costs. b. Pros and cons discussed. Item was tabled till next meeting. 3.Lightening Talks-Carl a. should LFNW sponsor such events? Maybe part of the party? b. Discussed pros and cons. No action. 4.BTC Changes-John: half of room 103 will be taken over by the cafe due to construction. This will affect planning next year. 5.LFNW 10 Surveys- Mike: No action by Greg.
