I just wanted to say Hi to the list members and mention that I added 2 session proposals to the lfnw website. Below is just a partial summary. Forgive me if the rich text is killing your email experiece :)
Introduction to the i3 Window Manager<http://linuxfestnorthwest.org/node/2704> [image: discord's picture] <http://linuxfestnorthwest.org/user/2752> Submitted by discord <http://linuxfestnorthwest.org/user/2752> on Sun, 2012-02-12 21:39 I'm proposing that I present the i3 Window Manager. i3 is a tiling window manager aimed at power users. It's functionality is similar to that of the past wmii, with an emphasis on better code and documentation. From i3wm.org<http://www.i3wm.org/>, it's catchphrase is: *Do What I Mean. Good Docs. Clean Code.* ** Gnome 3 on it's own merit. <http://linuxfestnorthwest.org/node/2705> [image: discord's picture] <http://linuxfestnorthwest.org/user/2752> Submitted by discord <http://linuxfestnorthwest.org/user/2752> on Sun, 2012-02-12 21:44 Gnome 3 has taken alot of criticisim from the FOSS community. However, I think alot of people haven't embraced Gnome 3 and taken it on it's own merit. Many comparisons are made with that of Ubuntu's Unity. However after trying out both window managers, I find Gnome 3 to be clearly superior. I don't want to spend alot of time talking about how it was missing the Gnome 2 menu bar, or comparing it to other Window Managers (e.g. KDE / Unity) . Instead I would like to focus on it's strengths: ** * *
