I mentioned this to him in C&C to a story called "Planned Brotherhood" a couple
years back. For me, the reason it seems strange is this: There are no native
Japanese words with the syllable "she" (short e), although there are some words
adopted from other languages that do. (According to my copy of the Kojien,
anyway.)
