If x32 were to become relatively common, i.e. for example if one of the major Linux distros were to make a specific x32 release where this is the default compiler mode, it may become a problem to have assembler silently disabled. IMHO, a warning at least would be necessary; possibly even explicit user consent, i.e. "enabled asm && die "x32 only works with --disable-asm" instead of "disable asm". Regards, -- Nicolas George
