There is no particular need for it to stay in the tree. Regardless, I wanted to send it to the mailing list to avoid any complications vs if I had just sent the output of the script (so that it can be reviewed and tested by others).

My suggestion would be to actually commit it and then remove it later when we have another system properly setup so that it is in git history.
