That was an insignificant part of my argument against it. I wouldn't even have mentioned this if I was the only one who was involved with AV1. Also its no so much "personal" as it is "political". My main point is accepting this wrapper doesn't help the project directly, instead it would result in a yet-another-libdav1d which might for real never actually get merged as VVC doesn't reach anywhere near the ubiquity the companies involved would have liked it to.
