I'm not exactly sure what you meant here, but FF_API_VDPAU is mainly about the (AV_)PIX_FMT_VDPAU_* pixel formats, which mplayer is still using, e.g. [1]. There are also libavg [2], mlt [3] and handbrake [4]. Considering also FF_API_CAP_VDPAU there is additionally gmerlin-avdecoder [5]. And mplayer is also using this API [6].
