Just installed gcli too and it seems to work fine here too.

Version is 2.11.0.

It seems to rely on various libraries so perhaps the segfault is due
to a ABI breakage on your system/OS?

Supporting a text-only contribution workflow seems like a very valid
point. I think that Michael's solution should work fine.

Do we need help updating the documentation?
