So I don't know what changed, but I did a pull for the master branch on
the GitHub repo and re-compiled and it is working now.
FFmpeg header:
ffserver version N-59498-g9c5260e Copyright (c) 2000-2014 the FFmpeg
developers
built on Jan 3 2014 21:50:24 with gcc 4.6 (Ubuntu/Linaro
4.6.3-1ubuntu5)
