The sample you uploaded plays very fine in-sync here with current FFplay,
particularly the words 'Iran', "safer" and "Barack Obama" are good testing
points imo.
Which version of libsdl are you using? Could this be a performance issue?
I would expect this sample to play badly on slow hardware?
