I see. It seems like the flac picture parser does not support images with
container formats and only works with images that can be directly parsed
(like png, jpeg, etc). Since AVIF always lives in a container + codec set
up, it might be non-trivial to add support for that in the flac picture
parser.
I will leave this as an open item.
