I have no knowledge on running mpv on Ubuntu.
What I did on Windows, was configuring the mpv to call yt-dlp to access
the YouTube stream.
mpv https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pNUhP_WCAQ --script-opts=ytdl_hook-
ytdl_path=D:\Tools\yt-dlp\yt-dlp.exe -v
--
